Forgive me Grandma but I won’t be making it to high tea at your place on Sunday, for I have found a swanky inner city place where they spike the tea with vodka and put it in a martini glass, play the best music I have ever heard, and turn the lights down low for a bit of loose late night dancing! In fact it’s so much fun I think I’m just gonna go here from now on, please forgive me grandma I will come back to you one day once my bones tire from the endless marathon dance sessions they hold on a Saturday night all the way through to 10 am on Sunday morning.

Playing this weekend we have Sunshine, Aram Chapers, Jean Pierre, Safari, Lewie Day, Kano and Mike Callander.

There once was a boy named Tyson.

Tyson grew up on the outskirts of Melbourne in the ghetto known only as Box Hill.  As Tyson grew up his powers of persuasion saw him DJ at a little hell hole we used to call Third Class. From there his star went all the way to the top and he ended up running Onelove at some point.

Onelove died. So Tyson fled overseas and played with the the likes of the Bloody Beetroots Crook-as and Busy P, with all this vibe it wasn’t long before Tyson was pretty much adopted as a Parisian native, but after an altercation involving a lock of Busy P’s mousey mane, Tyson hightailed it back to his motherland with baguette and onions in tow along with a whole USB drive of unreleased BludyB Crook-as & Sebastian remixes his only souvenir of a misspent summer abroad.  Some call it Aussie french house he calls it GENERIK!!

Come find out why he hasn’t uploaded it to a blog yet this Friday nacht !!!!

Ooh la la

Supported by the not so generic Knightlife (Cutters), Andee Frost, Oohee, Otologic & Jason Martin

After the immense response to Aeroplane last month we have decided to put some presale tickets online for the massive classixx show next week, however word has gotten out and they are already selling like hotcakes so if you would like to secure entry to the hottest show in march just go to MOSHTIX HERE.

Emerging from the sunny suburbs of Los Angeles, Tyler Blake and Michael David grew up to be a music school drop-out and a record label drop-out respectively… oh and they also produce killer sundrenched disco under the name CLASSIXX.  Barely into their twenties, Classixx have begun defining a new sound for the Los Angeles electronic music scene, with their Donna Summer‘esque grooves and pillowy synths catching the ears of music aficionados, fans and artists alike.

Almost a year ago now children, TRUS’ Me was one of the first DJs we featured at Sorry Grandma!  We were soooo impressed we have asked him back and we hope you can join us.

This man knows how to tweak the dancefloor that is for sure and we can all expect to be dancing until we cannot take no more in an extra special 4 hour set!  The name Trus’me, as you might expect, comes from “Trust Me” and it’s exactly what David Wolstencroft says to his audiences every night that he DJs. Disco, soul, funk, techno, house. It’s all going to come out. “Just trust me that I’m going to make it work.”

Tickets available from MOSHTIX HERE

Sorry Grandma! but I don’t want to listen to your tired nu eclectic electro sounds & ironic hits from the 70s all mashed into one played by dime a dozen DJs any longer!

We here at Sorry Grandma! have been proud to raise the bar in Melbourne clubbing this past year. A welcome return to the quality clubbing of days gone by; with a proper d-floor and one of the nicer sounding systems in Melbourne it’s easy to see why we get a bit nostalgic at times (excuse me while I dry my eyes). Not content with having the best local residents Melbourne, nay Australia has to offer, Sorry Grandma! has also played host to some of the most exciting acts in dance music!

From last weekend’s MIND BLOWING Motor City Drum Ensemble  & Jamie Jones shows to industry legends like DJ Pierre & Stacey Pullen not to mention plenty of Australian debuts Erol Alkan, D’Julz, Vinchenzo, Glimpse, Woolfy & half of the other guests we hosted got their first taste of Melbourne nightlife from behind the crown. From the very moment Grandma flung her doors open welcoming in the tired from the cold & old, she has been presenting quality acts such as The Revenge, Trus’ Me, Jacques Renault, Horse Meat Disco, Riton (pronounced ree-ton) & Mike Simmonetti. So being that our music director never rests on his laurels we have already invited some pretty amazing guests down to play with Grandma for 20-ten & we thought we would play a little cryptic quiz for everyone playing along at home. While we can’t officially announce them until next year we will give you the blanks so you can play hangman while you wait.
